History of the Peter Dillow Family Lineage
As early as 1730 many of the Scotch-Irish Irwins, Erwins, and Irvings crossed the ocean and located mainly in Pennsylvania and Virginia. They settled in "Pleasant Valley" shortly after 1734. They, as well as their descendants later settled in different parts of the country.

DIED:
June 16th, in this place, Mrs. A. Maria DELLONE, widow of Hon. Joseph Dellone,
aged 66 years, 6 months and 29 days.
Jacob HARTMAN died on Tuesday night at 10 o'clock, at his home on Philadelphia
Street, New Oxford, aged about 70 years. He had been afflicted for many years with hip disease, but recently was a sufferer from dropsy. He was one of the most highly respected citizens of the town, and a consistent member of the Lutheran Church. His wife and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Frank MAUS, survive him.Other possible relatives of the Dellone who most changed their names to Dillon are:
Pierre Delon born in France in 1696 Pierre Delon born in France in 1696 and arrived in PA in 1736 with a wife and at least 4 children under the age of 16.
Michael Hartman Dillow Michael Hartman Dillow born in about 1726.
Peter Dillow born in VA 1757 Peter Dillow born in VA in 1757.
Franz Delong's family came to New York prior to 1705. t is quite possible that Franz Delon is alos related to Pierre Delon and Nicolas Delon in PA because the records certainally show that he did, at least, come through PA in 1756. However, his family resided in New York. Their is no indication that any of their family records mingled with Pierre Delon's and Nicolas Delon's in PA.
Franz Delon...................1756 from Moore Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania Franz Delon of Moore Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania joined the military to help protect settlers against the Indians in1756 "Allegations of Soldiers", dated January 12, 1756, in Pennsylvania Archives, Series 5, Vol. 1. reads as follows:
"We the subscribers, do hereby engage ourselves as soldiers in his Majesty's service, under the command of Captain John Vanetta, for the space of one month and whoever of us shall got drunk, desert or prove cowardly in Time of Action, or disobedient to our officers, shall forfeit our pay. This agreement we make in consideration of being allowed at the rate of $6 per month wages, one dollar for the use of a gun and blanket to each man who will furnish himself with them and the provisions and rum mentioned in the paper hereto annexed ..... Franz delon, willing.

Go BackThe names of Dellow and Dillow in Adams County altered through the years. In the eastern part of Adams County, the name became Delone and Dellone; it can still be found in that area. in the western part of the county, in Franklin and Menallen Twps., it was altered to Dillon. A few of the Dellones in Adams county became rather wealthy and prominent citizens during the 1800s, then traces of the families trickled out. The York County Historical Society has vast amounts of data on the lives of Dellones who lived in both York and Adams counties during the 1800s.
